Payment
Healthcare providers in Nebraska can find information on examination payment on the Nebraska Attorney General’s web-pages created for healthcare. On that page, the Nebraska Medical Sexual Assault Protocol can be found.
Reimbursement for the medico-forensic examination may be received by a health care entity who has provided this service. These entities must submit a Data Demographic Form, along with an invoice outlining the facility and examiner fees. In order to receive reimbursements, they must be submitted no later than July 15th following the conclusion of the fiscal year ending on June 30th.
Reimbursements are outlined in Neb. Rev. Stat. 81-1429.03. Reimbursement claims must be submitted as well to NCC.SAPP@nebraska.gov. Providers must also submit the appropriate application form and kit to law enforcement and the crime lab.
There are 3 law enforcement reporting options for patients who have been sexually assaulted outlined in this Reporting Decision Tree.
